THE EMOTIONS OF GOD

'But without faith it is impossible to please him...' - Hebrews 11 vs 6

The WORD is clear, without faith, it is impossible to get God's attention. So we can say that the emotions of God are not like the emotions of men which are conditioned to feelings and perception, but the emotions of God are His written words. That means, God only responds to a man's faith and not his tears. - Selah

Read patiently:

'After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. [2] Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. [3] In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. [4] For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. [5] And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. [6] When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? [7] The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. [8] Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. [9] And immediately the man was made whole, k and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.' - John 5 vs 1 - 5 {KING JAMES VERSION}

Observe the verse 6, Jesus asked him a question which clearly proves to us that the emotions of God are not sentimental, but are faith provoking. The Lord asked him, "Wilt thou be made whole?" Meaning, Do you want to be well?

The question is, why will Jesus ask a man who obviously needs healing such question? That's because, nobody can receive anything from God without faith. So Jesus needed to know what his response would be like, to perceive whether he had faith to be healed or not. And the man's response proved that he had faith to be healed. Let's look at it:

'The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.' - Verse 7

You see... the man believed that if he got into the pool, he would be healed; hence he said that he had no man to put him into the pool when the water is troubled (stirred) by the Angel. On perceiving his faith, Jesus ministered healing to him, and he was healed. - Selah

Let's see another scenario:

'And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: [36] And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. [37] And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. [38] And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. [39] And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. [40] And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, [41] Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. [42] And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.' - Luke 18 vs 35 - 42 {KING JAMES VERSION}

Very interesting event. Take notice of the verse 40, the Lord instructed that the man be brought to Him. And when they brought the man to Jesus, Jesus asked him, "What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee?". Question, why will Jesus ask an obviously blind man what should He do for him? You see, that's because the emotions of God are not sentimental, God's emotion is committed to a man's faith in Him. Jesus needed to be sure that the man believed in Him. - Selah. And the man's response showed that he believed Jesus could heal him. Let's see it:

'And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.' - Verse 41

Note what Jesus said to him:

'And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.' - Verse 42

Waow! Just waow! You see, it was not because Jesus was pitiful that's why the man got healed, no! But it's because the man had faith in Jesus to be healed. - Selah. I tell you, if that man expressed unbelief, no miracle would have happened to him. Don't forget, there was a place where Jesus could not help sick people because of their unbelief. Let's look at it:

'And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him. [2] And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? [3] Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. [4] But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. [5] And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. [6] And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.' - Mark 6 vs 1 - 6 {KING JAMES VERSION}

Notice the verse 5:

'And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.'

It was not all the sick folks that got healed, it was just a few! And Jesus mentioned the reason that was so; the next verse:

'And he marvelled because of their unbelief...'

• Unbelief

Once they had no faith, He could not help them, even though He so desired to heal them. And that is because the emotions of God are not sentimental; God will need your faith to step in for you. - Think about it

Brothers and Sisters, know today that God really is not moved by tears or sentiments, God is only moved by a man's expression and demonstration of faith in Him. It's faith God honours, not grumbling nor murmurings, nor tears. Many Christians murmur a lot, thinking God is hearing them. But no! God is not listening to your murmurings. His word is there for you to act on, and until you act on it, your situation is gonna be the same. Let's look at something:

'Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.' - Matthew 6 vs 8 {KJV}

'Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you...' - Matthew 7 vs 7 {KJV}

Since God knows the things we have need of before we ask, and He is a merciful God, why don't He just provide us with them without us asking to ask for it? This again clearly proves to you that the emotions of God are not like the emotions of men. - Think about it

Some things you have to settle with yourself:

'God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it ? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?' - Numbers 23 vs 19 {KJV}

• GOD IS NOT A MAN

'For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. [9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.' - Isaiah 55 vs 8 - 9 {KING JAMES VERSION}

• THE WAYS OF GOD ARE NOT THE WAYS OF MAN
• GOD DOES NOT THINK LIKE MAN

Settle these realities with yourself, and you'll be fine.

"The emotions of God are His written words."

Many Christians are crying today, grumbling about the hardship in their lives, they've done all the grumbling and murmurings, except Prayer! See this;

'Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.' - James 4 vs 2 {KJV}

• You lust (crave)
• You kill (hatred and envy for others)
• You desire
• You grumble
• You murmur
• You get angry

The Word says that you do all these things yet you don't have the things you want, because you don't ask God. Think about it. C'mon, take a look at your character, does this describe you? Are you one of such that keeps murmuring and complaining about the things you don't have, and are hating on people who have them, and you are angry and bitter about your life? And some are even questioning the existence of God; they are like, if there is a God in Heaven, why am I suffering like this... My dear, you are suffering for nothing. Your problem is that, it has not dawned on you that God is not a man! It hasn't dawned on you that the ways of God are not the ways of man. - Selah

The emotions of God are not sentimental:

‘But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.’ - Hebrews 11 vs 6 {KJV}

You cannot get God's attention with tears, but by obedience to what He has said. He has said, ask! So if you've not asked, though He knows what things you have need of, yet He cannot help you; because He said "ask"! It's an instruction. So you need to ask! That's obedience. - Think about it. God's emotions will never be committed to grumbling and tears, but they are ever committed to a man's faith (obedience) in the Written Word. - Selah

The children of Israel murmured in the wilderness, all that murmurings instead attracted to them bitter experiences instead of the supplies which they murmured for. - Think about that. God is not a man, so are His emotions - they are not like the emotions of men. Without faith (obedience and trust) in His written word, you cannot walk with God.

'Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.' - 1 Corinthians 10 vs 10 {KJV}

See what the verse 11 says:

'Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.'

• They are written for our admonition

Meaning, their experiences were recorded in the Bible, for us to learn how to walk with God. Think about it.

"The emotions of God are not like the emotions of men."

Esau couldn't get the Blessing with tears, because God's emotions are not stirred up by tears, but by faith (obedience to His word); Jacob by obedience to the instruction of his father, being the first to arrive before his father, got the Blessing. And once the Blessing was pronounced on him, it couldn't be reversed.

'...Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. [17] For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.' - Hebrews 12 vs 16 - 17 {KING JAMES VERSION}

Though Isaac was touched at the supplanting of Jacob towards his brother Esau, he couldn't do anything for Esau, because that Blessing was spiritual (from God), hence it is not subject to the emotions of men. - Selah. It is the man that acted in faith that gets it. Simple! No sentiments! Though Esau sought it with tears, he didn't get it. - Selah

Therefore dearly beloved, having seen these things, get intentional with God. Don't get into a pity party in your Christian walk. You want something? Make your request known to God:

'Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks.' - Philippians 4 vs 6 {GW}

Be intentional! Be intentional with God. No pity parties! No assumptions!
