"There was a time when I wouldn’t admit what a sinner I was. But my dishonesty made me miserable and filled my days with frustration. All day and all night your hand was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water on a sunny day until I finally admitted all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, “I will confess them to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone." - Psalms 32 vs 3 - 5 {The Living Bible}
- I wouldn’t admit what a sinner I was
David tells us that there was a time when he wouldn't admit what a sinner he was-he had committed sin, but he didn't admit it—first to himself, then to God. But he tells us what his experience was living in that hypocrisy, he said:
- my dishonesty made me miserable and filled my days with frustration
- Your hand was heavy on me
- My strength evaporated like water on a sunny day
These were his experiences—he lived with heaviness in his heart, depression & guilt! Then he came to a decision, to admit his sins to God and stop trying to deceive himself that he was upright:
"...until I finally admitted all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, “I will confess them to the Lord."
What was the effect of this decision? Peace! David said:
"...And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone."
Hallelujah!
Beloved, the enemy of a restful heart is you not acknowledging that you are not a good person; you not acknowledging that you are not an upright person; you not acknowledging that you are a point blank sinner! This is the enemy of a restful heart. You are doing wrongs, you are committing sins, you are doing the wrong stuffs, but in your heart, you don't consider yourself to be bad, you don't see yourself as an immoral person, you don't consider yourself to be ungodly, yet you do the ungodly stuff! This is hypocrisy!! And such person will continually be under the plague of guilt and heaviness in his heart, till he finally acknowledges that he is a failure!
Beloved, don't struggle to accept your human imperfections, don't struggle to admit that you don't have it all put together morally. By the way, if you can have it all together by your strength, why are you saved by Grace? If you can have it all together all by yourself, why is Christ your righteousness before God? You see... So don't struggle with your human nature! Accept it. Accept that you have moral struggles! Accept that you are a bad boy! Accept that you are a bad girl! Don't struggle with it. Don't struggle with the obvious. Jesus came to save the bad boys—if you are not a bad boy, Jesus cannot save you, because he didn't come for righteous people, He came for the unrighteous! So own your weakness! Own your weakness and enjoy God's peace. Accept both your sins and your sinfulness, and enjoy the peace of forgiveness in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!!!!!
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
