ON CURSES

'And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.' - Numbers 23 vs 14

Greetings to you dearly beloved of God in Christ Jesus. This article is a discourse that reveals our eternal security in Christ Jesus from curses and spiritual bondages. Be enlightened, be blessed. Amen.

There are Believers who hold a belief in a certain false doctrine: ALTAR VS ALTAR. That teaching makes Christians believe that as a child of God, when someone offers an evil sacrifice against you to put a spell on you, you have to offer a sacrifice to God also that is more than what was used against you so as to make ineffective what was done against you and reverse it. Now, as good as that sounds, that is not the truth for the man in Christ. There are Believers who may still hold that practice as a principle of warfare, but if you want the GRACE which God has provided you in Christ to do a clean job in your behalf, then you must rest and stop working! - Think about that.

Remember, the scriptures (Genesis to Malachi) were written for us to learn. So in the scriptures, we can learn about God; in the scriptures, we can learn about things that pertain to life:

'For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.' - Romans 15 vs 4 {KJV}

So right now, we will be learning about the operation of the blessing of God against curses from the scriptures. So much to learn. Sit tight and read carefully.

In our opening scripture, we see something interesting, the prophet Balaam who the king employed to curse the people of God saw that it was not working in that the prophet uttered Blessings on the people instead of curses {Numbers 23 vs 11 - 12}. So the king decided to act on the principle of sacrifice, he built seven altars and offered a Bullock and a Ram each on every of the seven altars. Waow! What an expensive sacrifice.

Now, after the king made that sacrifice against Israel (God's people), could the curse prosper against Israel (who had been blessed by God)? Let’s see what the prophet had to say:

'Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.' - Numbers 23 vs 20 {KJV}

You see that? The prophet could still not place a curse on the people of Israel. Why? ‘He hath blessed’. O Glory to God! I want us to see that passage in the BBE (Bible in Basic English) translation of the Bible:

'See, I have had orders to give blessing: and he has given a blessing which I have no power to take away.'

You see that? He has given a blessing which I have no power to take away. Waow! Ephesians 1 vs 3 informs us that we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus. All spiritual blessings. Meaning, everything that has to do with the man in Christ has been blessed. Who then can curse your health when your health has been blessed? - Selah. Who then can curse your job when your job has been blessed? - Selah. Who then can curse your family when your family has been blessed? - Selah. Who then can curse your academics when your academics has been blessed? - Selah. Who then can curse your life when your life has been blessed? - Selah. Just name it, who can take it away from you when God has blessed it? - Think about these things.

He then went further to say:

'Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!' - Numbers 23 vs 23 {KJV}

There is no enchantment against you child of God, neither is there any divination against you. Look at how the BBE translation puts it:

'No evil power has effect against Jacob, no secret arts against Israel...'

Waow! Did you see that? Nothing evil has any effect against who God has blessed. Israel typifies a person blessed by God. See this:

'Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ...' - Ephesians 1 vs 3 {KJV}

  • God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ

Let’s see another story in the Bible that gives further explanation to this discourse:

'And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.' - Genesis 9 vs 20 - 25 {KING JAMES VERSION}

The above is the story of Ham, how that he looked upon his father and saw his father’s (Noah) nakedness. We have read the story above. Now, notice what the prophet, Noah his dad did; he didn’t curse Ham who committed the crime, but he cursed Ham’s son named Canaan. Waow! You know why he didn’t and could not curse Ham? Because God had blessed Ham already. Let’s see that:

And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.' - Genesis 9 vs 1 {KJV}

You saw that right? God didn’t only bless Noah, but his sons also which included Ham. So you see, Noah was a prophet who understood the ways of God because he walked with God, so he knew it was impossible for what God had blessed to be cursed, so he cursed Canaan, the son of Ham who had not received any blessing from God. - Think about that.

Child of God, do you know that you are blessed? Do you know that in Christ Jesus we have been endowed with blessings which makes it impossible for curses to work on us? Do you realise that God instructed Balaam the prophet not to curse Israel because they are blessed? See it:

'And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.' - Numbers 22 vs 12 {KJV}

  • thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed

That tells us that what God has blessed cannot be cursed. Just incase you didn’t know that in Christ you have been blessed, let me show you:

'Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ...' - Ephesians 1 vs 3 {KJV}

Waow! God who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings! Glory to God! That’s exciting and so good to know. What a feeling to know that we are blessed by the Father and hence no one can put a curse on us, not even God’s anointed or His prophets can do that. Glory to God forever. Little wonder the Lord Jesus asked us not to worry about those that curses us, but to bless them, because their words are empty words, their curses cannot have an effect on those who God has blessed. And you know what? We are those who God has blessed, the blessed of the Lord, the blessed of God. We are the carriers of Heavenly blessings. Hallelujah! O Glory to God forever. I’m stirred! I'm excited! I'm sure you are too.

Dearly beloved, having realised this, be joyful and exceedingly glad. You are in Christ Jesus! Hence, you are no more under any ancestral or generational curse, your old spiritual condition is passed away, you are free! Glory to God! The moment you came into Christ, you came into a blessing, and that blessing chattered every curse that was working against you. Because a curse cannot operate in an environment of a blessing from God. We've learnt that so far in this teaching. And now being saved, now that you are a carrier of Heavenly blessings from God the Father by reason of salvation in Christ Jesus, a curse cannot be put on you anymore because you have been blessed by God (with all spiritual blessings) in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

Therefore child of God, cheer up! Christ has overcome the world for us. If you are cursed, or if sacrifices are offered against you or against your life, don’t fret, don’t look out for what to do to counter it, that would be the operation of works, a walk in the flesh. Instead, relax! Rest in God's infallible word, even this word which the Lord has brought to your understanding right now, and you will be okay, confident, and without fear of whatsoever spell they have cast against you; your eyes will see their destruction which they meant for you. It's a sure thing. You are a blessed man.

Count all curses and all evil arts done against you as a child's play in the mud! You have been blessed by God. Hallelujah! Nothing which God has blessed can be cursed. Let this settle in your understanding till it brings out fearlessness out of you. Glory to God!

God has blessed you.
