There has been a preaching in churches globally that revival is coming—and what the preachers mean by that is that a time is coming when there will be an outburst of zealousness for God in Believers, whereby massively all over the world the churches will burn with righteousness and begin to walk in the will and fear of the Lord. Waow! Well, this passes for a good wish.

Now, let's get into the Word and begin to see what the Bible says on this subject, whether such revival will indeed happen to Believers or will not—let's see.

'And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.' - Matthew 24 vs 12 {KJV}

  • the love of many shall wax cold

Be mindful of the fact that in this chapter of the book Matthew, the Lord Jesus was speaking concerning the things that will be in the last days. Here, He clearly states that the love of many shall wax cold—and He tells the reason, He says "because iniquity shall abound".

'This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. [2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, [3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, [4] Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; [5] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.' - 2 Timothy 3 vs 1 - 5 {King James Version}

  • in the last days perilous times shall come

'Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts...' - 2 Peter 3 vs 3 {KJV}

  • there shall come in the last days scoffers

'But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; [18] How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.' - Jude 1 vs 17 - 18 {King James Version}

  • in the last time (days) there will be mockers

'Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils...' - 1 Timothy 4 vs 1 {KJV}

  • in the last times (days) some shall depart from the faith
  • in the last days some shall give heed to false doctrines

Pay attention!

'Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition...' - 2 Thessalonians 2 vs 3 {KJV}

  • in the last days there will be a falling away of many Christians from the faith

'For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; [4] And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.' - 2 Timothy 4 vs 3 - 4 {KJV}

  • in the last days men will not endure sound doctrine, they will cling to false doctrines

Uhmmm! What insights we've been having so far in this study. All these verses we have seen in this study so far suggests to us that in the last days there will be no revival, as opposed to what many preachers preach today that REVIVAL IS COMING! Think about it.

As the world draws close to her end, we are told in the Bible in the teachings of Christ and the Apostles that there will be increased weakness among Believers, there will be increased ungodliness among men, there will be falling away of Believers from the faith, there will be deceptions and gravitations towards false doctrines among Believers. All these doesn't sound like revival!

Then there is a category of men spoken of concerning the last days, let's see:

'And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. [13] But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.' - Matthew 24 vs 12 - 13 {King James Version}

  • But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved

That word 'endure' in the verse already suggests 'hardship, difficulty, pain, sorrow'. This means, in the last days true Believers will painfully stand! It means in the last days, continuing in the faith will not be an easy job! It will not be a smooth sail! That is why the Lord said "he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." This clearly informs us that standing in the last days will be painful! And those who endure the pain, struggles and difficulties while standing, they the Kingdom is reserved for!

'But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.' - Hebrews 10 vs 39 {KJV}

  • we are not of them who draw back
  • but of them that believe to the saving of the soul
Meaning, we hold on! In spite of circumstances, we hold on to the faith in Christ Jesus. No going back! This doesn't connote a revival (where everyone is on fire for the Lord and zealous for the Lord), but rather, endurance in suffering!which will not be the testimony of many, because many will depart from the faith, as we've seen already in verses above in this study.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
