‘And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.’ – Revelation 13 vs 8 {KJV}
- the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world
The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world means, the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world. Question: Was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world? No! So we see that the above statement in that verse is a communication to show that God’s plan to save man existed before the world was created. Now, this brings to mind a question: If God had a plan to save man before the foundation of the world, does that mean that God knew already that man would fall? Yes! That brings us to the subject, ‘the foreknowledge of God’.
‘Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:’ – Isaiah 46 vs 9 – 10 {King James Version}
‘I alone am God! There are no other gods; no one is like me. Think about what happened many years ago.
From the very beginning, I told what would happen long before it took place. I kept my word…’ – Isaiah 46 vs 9 – 10 {Contemporary English Version}
‘Remember the first events, because I am God, and there is no other. I am God, and there’s no one like me.
From the beginning I revealed the end. From long ago I told you things that had not yet happened, saying, “My plan will stand, and I’ll do everything I intended to do.”’ - Isaiah 46 vs 9 – 10 {God’s Word Translation}
- From the beginning I revealed the end
This is the foreknowledge of God! He is God, He knows all things. Now someone might say, Since He already knew that man would sin, why then did He go ahead and create man? Now let’s analyse that notion thoroughly.
There are two (2) realms or two (2) angles:
1. The realm of God or God’s angle
2. The realm of man or man’s angle
Now, in God’s realm He knows the end from the beginning, He knows all the choices and decisions of men. C’mon He is God!
In man’s realm, man is given a choice—man was made a free will being; man has the ability and sovereignty to make his choices independent of God! So in God’s realm, God knows all the decisions of men; in man’s realm, man has a choice, to either believe the Gospel or not believe it. So therefore, don’t preoccupy yourself with deliberations about things in God’s realm, like: Since God already knew that man would sin, why then did He go ahead and create man? Such deliberations are not profitable for you. Instead, live in the realm of man where you have a choice to believe the Gospel. Since you have the choice and ability to believe the Gospel, why not believe the Gospel and be on the good side of God’s foreknowledge, instead of asking unprofitable questions? You see…
So, the point is, Leave God’s realm for God! Stay in your realm! You have a choice, a choice to believe or to not believe; choose to believe! You might ask, What if I don’t believe, does that mean God already knew that I wouldn’t believe? Well, that’s an unnecessary question. Why bother about that when you can simply believe and be saved?! Why bother yourself about whether or not God knows the choice you will make, when you can make the right choice and be on the good side of God’s foreknowledge?! – Think on this.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
